Friendly staff, nice old hotel, great location. Clean, comfortable room and importantly, great sound buffering from the 'music' downstairs... I thought to myself that when you stay upstairs at a pub, you can get some chatter in the hallway, some conversation outside - that's to be expected - and some pretty loud music downstairs - and I was right! Death metal group Demon Pig was 'playing' downstairs from 9 pm... The obscenity laden 'lyrics' were all too audible from the common bathroom, sounding something like a truck crash, an explosion and a broken down washing machine all in one. But once inside my room the 'music' faded to a quiet rumble, like traffic in the distance. With the help of an early start, I slept like a baby. So it's actually a positive, having slept through Demon Pig, I could have slept through anything! But other than Demon Pig, I really liked the place, and I'll probably be back for such a clean, comfortable and convenient place to stay, at a great price... But I might check who's playing that night.

Wonderful location which is why I booked it. Directly across from Central Market and just around the corner from King William Street and it’s shops. A short walk to the central railway station. Room was a little smaller than the photos indicated with only a single bed but certainly adequate. I upgraded to a room with balcony and so glad I did. Popped across the road for morning caffeine hit which I enjoyed on the balcony whilst listening to music and reading. Perfect start to the day! Had a few drinks out the front with a couple of mates….very pleasant. Staff were great. Will book there again.

I think the first thing that hits you is the retro-style of the entire place, room included, but eventually you get used to it. It's a nice place. The place is clean: rooms are clean, bathroom and showers are clean. It's a quiet place, even if there is the bar downstairs, but that's not a problem, because from your room you are quite isolated from the noise. It is located right in front of the Central Market and really close to the CBD and a 10 minute from the airport by taxi. You can reach the bus station with a 5-minutes-walk

I gave it a 9/10 overall... When you consider the price it has to be at least a 9. It is well-run and it is exactly what I expected- probably a bit better than what I expected. This is my second time staying here and it does the job- it is not the most glamourous hotel you've ever been to but it doesn't claim to be. I'll be back ... for sure!

The room was excellent, with a nice veranda to enjoy outside. The bar and dinner area were superb and we could enjoy amazing food and very nice cold beer. The location of the hotel was fantastic and so easy to catch the 98C bus to explore the city. There was a fridge in the room where we could keep water and some fruit, etc cold
